sorry about that, I've dug up an mpeg_encode that should do the trick,
but after genning the gifs I deleted the pngs so I'll have to re-render
unless I can figure out how to extract ppms from an animated gif (on
linux.)

Sorry again for not being more precise. I meant test renderings that
demonstrate a specific aspect of povray, in this case type 5 scattering
and the effect of the eccentricity modifier.
Such postings may save others some of the time spent doing similar
experiments themselves.
